Faustino I Gran Reserva 2006 gets 95 points from Decanter
The largest wine competition in the world, and one of the most prestigious, the Decanter World Wine Awards 2018, recognised the 2006 vintage of our iconic Faustino I with a gold medal. Another five Faustino Group wines also received medals in this competition.
Bodegas Faustino and its iconic Faustino I Gran Reserva are once again recognised in an international competition. This time it was at the Decanter awards, organised by the eponymous wine magazine, which awarded the 2006 vintage of our Grand Reserva 95 points, providing the following tasting notes: Raspberry confit, rhubarb pie and pipe tobacco nose. Lovely concentration with present but resolved tannins and a beautiful finish. Lovely now, so don’t put it in the cellar.
The jury panel, comprised of Masters of Wine and Master Sommeliers, as well as experts from the magazine itself, tasted almost 17,000 wines from around the world.
Spain and Rioja stand out in the 2018 awards
Spain is second, behind France, as the most recognised country for its wines. Rioja is also the Spanish region that was most valued by judges and the most internationally recognised, along with Rhône wines from France, with a remarkable appreciation of the most classic wines with long ageing.
